Kanturk neighbour claims father discussed impact of a murder-suicide just before the tragic incident
A new development has arisen in the Kanturk incident from last week after a claim made by a neighbour of the family involved in the tragedy.
The neighbour in question reached out to Gardai recently and explained that the father of the family, Tadgh O' Sullivan, had spoken about such tragedies and their impact on families on what is understood to be at least three occasions.
Mr O'Sullivan had specifically asked about the legacy impact of such tragedies on surviving family members.
He notably brought up one previous Irish murder-suicide to his neighbour, although it is unknown which one he referred to.
The neighbour thought nothing of the conversations at the time and assumed he was simply asking in a kind-hearted way, adding that at no point was any suggestion of a threat made.
Mark, Tadgh's oldest son and a trainee solicitor, was apparently shot and killed following a confrontation with his father and younger brother Diarmuid last Monday morning in the bedroom of his Kanturk farmhouse home.
The subject of the argument is reportedly to do with an inheritance row over their €2 million farm.
Diarmuid and Tadgh were buried together on Friday at St Mary's Church in Castlemagner, while a separate funeral was held for Mark on Saturday.
